Prof. Michal Schwartz of the
Weizmann Institute of Science, scientific founder of Proneuron,
wins Friedenwald Award at the ARVO Meeting.

Proneuron Biotechnologies, Inc. announced today that its scientific
founder, Prof. Michal Schwartz, of the Neuroimmunology department
at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel, has been granted
the Friedenwald Award by the Association for Research in Vision
and Ophthalmology (ARVO), "for pioneering work in the area of
optic nerve recovery after injury". Prof. Schwartz's studies
on the neurodegenerative and neuroprotective aspects of glaucoma
have demonstrated that progression of glaucoma and various other
neurodegenerative disorders can be attenuated via therapeutic
vaccination. Proneuron Biotechnologies supports Prof.
Schwartz's
research and holds rights to technology derived from it. The
development of a proprietary therapeutic vaccine for acute and
chronic neurodegenerative disorders is currently in advanced
preclinical development for several indications.
